Overview
This 5-day safari combines three of Tanzania’s most iconic destinations. Begin at Lake Manyara National Park, home to tree-climbing lions and diverse birdlife. Continue to the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its rich wildlife and dramatic landscapes. The highlight of your journey will be three days in the Ndutu Plains during the Great Migration’s calving season, where thousands of wildebeest give birth and predators roam in abundance. Carefully selected lodges place you at the heart of each location — Lake Manyara Serena on the Rift Valley escarpment, Ngorongoro Serena on the crater rim, and Lake Ndutu Lodge in the center of the calving plains.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha – Lake Manyara
Drive from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park. Afternoon game drive through forests, open plains, and lakeshore habitats where flamingos and elephants thrive. Look out for the park’s famous tree-climbing lions. Overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge, with sweeping Rift Valley views.
Day 2: Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro Crater
Travel to Ngorongoro and descend 600 meters into the crater for a full-day game drive. Encounter lions, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and the endangered black rhino. In the evening, ascend to the rim for an overnight stay at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, perched dramatically with panoramic crater views.
Day 3: Ngorongoro – Ndutu Plains
Head into the Ndutu Plains, part of the Serengeti ecosystem and the heart of the calving season. Witness the spectacle of wildebeest births and the predators they attract. Overnight at Lake Ndutu Lodge, ideally located in the middle of the action.
Day 4: Ndutu Plains
Spend the full day in the Ndutu region, where the migration creates one of Africa’s most dramatic wildlife events. Thousands of calves are born daily, offering unforgettable predator-prey encounters. Return to Lake Ndutu Lodge for your second night.
Day 5: Ndutu – Arusha
Enjoy a final morning game drive in Ndutu before returning to Arusha, where your safari concludes.
